Here you just leave your bike anywhere...at the point that I couldn't find it last Saturday in Sendai and I am almost sure it has been moved (or I am loosing my mind!!).

But it is in the streets in Sendai that I am not sure...
I am seeing that kind of sign:
mostly the green one. It's confusing...I was thinking it's green so I can park, but there is a cross so I can't?? not quite sure. Sometimes I am seeing tons of bike in front of this sign, and sometimes not a single one...So I have adopted the politics to leave my bike only if I there are some already! I heard it was forbidden, but people just leave their bike anyway and then maybe the city of Sendai will pass by and take those 100 bikes sitting there....hummmm....
At each subway station there are those underground parking lots for bile. It costs 50 to 100 ¥ for the day. But if I am not at a station...need some tips!! I really panicked last day when I couldn't find my bike!!!

Since I am speaking about signs. When I bike around, sometimes I want to take some roads. but I am not quite sure I can. Like this one:
There was a sign next to it. But since I can read the word tabaco, I suppose it's just something regarding fire, like don't smoke here? (but then where is the cute drawing?). So could have I go on this road?

Photo1: at a first glance, I didn't see your bike but actually your red bike is behind the orange scooter. It's kind of weird to see you don't attach bike to anywhere (like a fence).

You cannot park your bike where the sign is located.
"自転車（じてんしゃ）"=bike
"バイク"=motor cycle
"放置（ほうち）" =leave
"規制（きせい）" and
"禁止(きんし)"=prohibit,
"区域(くいき)"=region.
The sign below the green one says
"この周辺（しゅうへん）に"=nearby
"置（お）くと"=put on
"撤去（てっきょ）"=remove
"されます。"=enforce
If you leave your bike around here, your bike will be removed. :)
Usually, city has a place to put the bikes left at the prohibited place. And, if removal happens you have to go there to pick up your bike and you have to pay for your charge. City sometimes do remove bikes but if you are lucky you won't catch one. Short time (like during shopping, you'll probably ok.)

but, you can take this road.
I misunderstood a bit.
You might able to squeeze in to the road if you are walking or biking (you'll be ok just to go and check.)
But, the small yellow-patch fence doesn't have anything to do with the mountain fire sign.
because truly, who cares about where I can park my bike?!
Thanks Yoshi for the explanation. I don't understand why sometimes there are 50 bikes in front of one sign then! ;) So can I park my bike where there are no signs then?
as for the road, so there are constructions, so cars can't go but me I could by bike if I wanted too, is that right?
Who cares: people living in the city cares. Imagine a lot of people park their bikes in front of your house.
It's probably doesn't look good. :)
But, 50 peoples don't care, and don't want to pay for parking. :)
It's possible for you to park where there's no sign, but your bike might
disappear (unless you lock it to something).
There might be constructions, or falling stones or trees. :)
You can try to go, but if someone stops you then better to come back,
before s/he calls police! hihihi
Sorry, my mistake! The "who cares" was in answer to my father who was saying some people will complain I wrote in English only! It's because I don't think people leaving in France really care about where I can park my bike here! And now I don't have time to translate everything in both French and English! So since I needed your help, I wrote in English only!

The 50 bikes parked in front of the green sign belong to the foreigner people who don't understand kanji! :p Make sense? huhu
